Summary
Responsible for the production of mortgage loans, consumer loans, agricultural loans and commercial loans within approved lending limits in accordance with established policies and procedures which provide maximum profitability to the bank with a minimum of risk. Cross sell other bank products and services to current and prospective customers. 

Duties:

  • Interview loan applicants, collect and analyze financial and related data to determine the general creditworthiness of the loan applicant and the merits of the specific loan request.
  • Prepares and presents loan presentations to the Senior Lender, Loan Committee and The Board of Directors for discussion and approval of the terms under which the credit will be extended.
  • Collect and analyze information that reflects the current creditworthiness of customers and the current merits of existing loans. Information may be obtained by direct inspection of the applicant’s business and/or collateral review of interim financial reports, personal interview, etc.
  • Monitor repayment activities and take necessary action to collect according to the banks collection policy.
  • Determines which products best meet the customer's needs and financial circumstances and advises potential borrowers regarding the advantages and disadvantages of different financial products and the most appropriate loan programs. Makes recommendations to customers regarding other bank products or to alternative lending vehicles, as needed.
  • Cultivates new loan business. Markets, services and promotes the bank's mortgage products. This includes the solicitation of loans through contacts with realtors, businesses, builders, and developers. Cross sell other bank services. Regularly works at a bank facility, but may be required to travel.
  • Coordinate the bank’s relationship with area merchants and dealers ensuring that regular visits are made to work out new programs and procedures, and to re-enforce the bank’s relationship.
  • Coordinates the review of floor plan agreements, submitting billing and curtailments when necessary. Schedules collateral inspections of floor plan loans regularly.
  • Negotiates terms and conditions of loan with mortgagors.
  • Ensures lending compliance with all origination procedures including bank policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Advises management on effective compliance strategies and potential modifications to corporate operating policies where appropriate to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Represents the bank in the community and related functions to identify, develop and promote additional business. May present seminars to general public and real estate agents to promote additional business and community outreach.
  • Works with other bank lenders and departments to facilitate lending functions.
  • The position requires extensive external contacts (potential and existing customers, realtors, etc.), as well as internal contacts (other Bank personnel) primarily on sales calls outside the office.
  • Will interact with individuals and teams internally and within the community assigned, developing new relationships and maintaining existing relationships.
  • Adheres to BSA policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned and/or are necessary.

Specialized training or skills necessary for job performance:

  • Thorough knowledge of banking and lending function.
  • Thorough understanding of bank's policies and procedures regarding lending.
  • Proven sales ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enhanced computer skills, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with individuals.
  • Ability to sell bank products and services to existing or prospective customers.
